Good morning, Houston.

Happy Friday! Yesterday, Houston ISD unveiled a $4.4 billion bond proposal, the largest in HISD history and likely the largest package any Texas school district has taken to voters. Leaders of Houston's NAACP branch spoke out against the bond and repeated their calls for state and federal investigations into possible wrongdoing in the district.

๐ŸŒง️ Temperature check: High of 85; low of 78. Justin's insight: Southeast Texas has had a rough couple of weeks of weather. Friday storms bring another risk of damaging winds, but it's a complicated forecast. Sign up for the weekly Weather Radar newsletter for more coverage.

Scores: Astros 4, Mariners 0. Read more in our sports newsletter Daily Playbook.

Today we're talking about new lazy rivers in the Houston area...

If you read one thing: Two lazy rivers have opened in the Houston area, at Sunterra in Katy and Sierra Vista south of Pearland, where developer Starwood Land is unveiling other community features.

When did the attractions open?

Florida-based Starwood Land opened the water attractions over the Memorial Day weekend adjacent to pools and other outdoor spaces such as tennis courts, splash pads, soccer fields and playgrounds. They are the second and third lazy rivers at Starwood's area developments.

What other amenities are coming?

The Retreat in Sunterra will add a clubhouse, fitness center, meeting rooms and event spaces to the Katy community in June. A long-planned Crystal Lagoon in Sunterra, a community northwest of the Grand Parkway and the Katy Freeway, is expected to open in 2025.

In addition to Sierra Vistas' heated lazy river and pool at The Island complex, there's a pavilion and sports courts for basketball, bocce ball and pickleball. A clubhouse with fitness facility is expected to open later this year.
