Little margin for error
Another night in Seattle brought another tight loss for the Astros, with their failures to execute with runners in scoring position looming large Wednesday.
- Held in check again: The Astros' bats scuffled again as Justin Verlander got a lack of run support. Seattle then executed in the 10th inning to win its third straight in the series.
- Savoring his second act: After ditching his minor league career, new Astros pitcher Alex Speas coached a youth team in 2022 and saw baseball's joys anew, bringing him back to pro ball.
- Another step in rehab: Astros right-hander Luis Garcia will take the next step in his recovery from Tommy John surgery by throwing live batting practice later this week.
