Today we're talking about more rain being possible after hurricane-force winds hit Houston...
If you read one thing: Severe storms ripped through Houston Thursday evening, killing at least four people. Recovery could be slowed down Friday due to additional storm chances.
What was the extent of the damage?
The storms unleashed hurricane-force wind gusts of over 100 mph in some areas, prompting tornado warnings, snapping transmission lines and downing numerous trees. Hundreds of thousands lost power at the height of the storm, according to the Texas Power Outage Tracker. View photos of the damage across the Houston area here.
Due to the widespread damage, Houston ISD and several other public school districts canceled classes on Friday.
What will Friday look like?
Downed trees, branches or power lines may still be a hazard on area roadways Friday morning. Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo says to expect "very significant" damage on Houston roads Friday. Ensure you're taking into consideration that damage may cause slowdowns as you head into work.
Spots hit hard in recent weeks should get a much-needed break from widespread rain Friday, but the same can't be said for areas between I-10 and the coastline. The Upper Texas Gulf Coast will be the favored spot for occasionally heavy rain Friday.
