North Shore football player shot and killed at house party Saturday

The North Shore High School and Galena Park ISD community is mourning after senior football player Jarvon Coles was shot and killed at a house party in Humble late Saturday night.

Coles, 18, held a lofty 4.2 grade-point average and was a standout player at linebacker for the Mustangs. But, more importantly, he was beloved by his family, teammates, coaches, teachers and many others.

Former North Shore head coach Jon Kay offered some words on his former player:

"Jarvon was the epitome of Texas high school football. He loved the game and played it with passion that showed whenever he stepped on the field. He competed in the classroom as much as he competed on the field. He will always be my 'gold standard' when it comes to recognizing a true student-athlete. He touched more lives than he will ever know."

An investigation into the shooting is still ongoing.
