Greg McCaig is hanging up his whistle.
The longtime Cypress Creek head football coach recently announced his retirement after 21 years at the school.
McCaig spent nearly three decades as a head coach with stops at Giddings and Stratford before taking over at Cypress Creek. While his impact extends beyond the field, his résumé is bolstered by 148 victories and three regional final appearances.
"The community had really high expectations about how we were supposed to do and the way we did things," McCaig said of his time at Cypress Creek. "That was a massive draw. We had terrific administration. And then in Cy-Fair (ISD), you had all the resources you needed to be successful. All of those things combined worked out to be really good."
