Snell, the reigning NL Cy Young winner, would bolster an Astros rotation that has been hit with injuries. 

 

• Yordan Alvarez exits Astros' Grapefruit League game with allergic reaction: Astros slugger left a preseason game Friday after an allergic reaction caused his eye to swell.
• Justin Verlander 'definitely getting close' to facing live hitters: He threw a bullpen session Friday and is "hopeful" about facing live hitters soon as he recovers from a shoulder ailment.
• Astros' Framber Valdez to make third straight opening day start: Only five other Astros pitchers have had more opening day starts than Valdez.
