Cy-Fair to see warmer weather next week after closures to the area.

The winter freeze caused a two-day stop in the Cy-Fair and surrounding Houston areas.

Several businesses and Cy-Fair Independent School District closed their doors in the beginning of this week

Popular areas such as the Boardwalk at Towne Lake and schools throughout Cypress were empty as people stayed home to avoid the icy road conditions. People who ventured out had a slippery commute as highways and roads were reported icy and several resulted in crashes.

Now we're looking at temperatures in the 70s on Thursday before the weather turns freezing yet again.

Hundreds disciplined for vaping in school under 'punitive' new Texas law.

In Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, 267 students were disciplined for e-cigarette use through early December, according to disciplinary records.

Openings and closings

Mathnasium, a tutoring service, will open its doors near the Cy-Fair area in northwest Houston. Mathnasium offers tutoring, homework help, test preparation, and an early child program that includes 4 to 6-year-olds improving their critical thinking, problem-solving, and number sense skills.

Congratulations to Bridgeland Salyards Choirs as they were selected as 2024 TMEA Honors Group. Two Cy-fair ISD schools, Bridgeland High School Tenor/Bass Choir and Salyards Middle School Treble Chorale was selected as TMEA Honor Groups in their respective UIL conferences.
