It's almost crawfish season. What's your go-to spot for crawfish?
I don't love crawfish, but I love crawfish season.
Crawfish season for non-crawfish fans is a lot like watching someone celebrate a holiday outside your religion. It's not my thing personally, but I love how excited everyone around me is, and I love being invited to the festivities, even if I'm not really partaking in them.
As you all know, crawfish season in the southern coastal region is a whole experience. There are crawfish boils everywhere, and every friend group is coordinating plans based on where they can find the best spot to stuff their faces with our local crustacean.
As for me, I'm the awkward outsider wandering around the table with a plate of corn and potatoes, but I'm still having the best time. When the group chat is nothing but discussion on where we're going for mudbugs, I just "heart" everything and wait for someone to tell me the plan.
And I love it. Crawfish season is an absolute riot, even if you're not keen on cracking into a crawdad.
If you are into crawfish — and I estimate about 99% of you are — I can assume the experience is even more enjoyable. So let's dedicate this reader poll to helping out your fellow crawfish aficionados in Katy.
I want to know: where can Katy Insiders find the best crawfish in the city?
Once you've voted, I'll put together a list of your favorites so we can pass the information on to your neighbors.
And even though I won't be dining on the crawfish myself, I'll be tagging along with my mudbug-loving friends, stuffing myself with dinner rolls and spicy potatoes and watching everyone else plow through crawfish by the pound.
