Keep an eye on your pets during freeze.
Ever since this cold front barged in, all I've wanted to do is mimic my cats and cozy up under a quilt.
They made the most of Saturday, patrolling the neighborhood before coming home at night because they missed me.
My cat Cersei scratched at the back door this morning, before reluctantly accepting that I would not be letting her out. A pet's resistance to cold weather varies, influenced by factors like their fur, body fat, activity level, and general health. Just because my kitty thinks she's a snow leopard doesn't magically make it so.
In many places, there are laws in place to prevent animal cruelty and ensure the well-being of pets, especially during extreme weather conditions like cold temperatures.
In Texas, it is illegal for pet owners to leave their animals outside when temperatures dip below 32 degrees. You could face criminal charges.
Everything should be above freezing by noon on Wednesday. In the meantime, stay cozy, and be sure to keep a close watch on both pets and children.
