El Dorado County man's case going to U.S. Supreme Court – A man is suing El Dorado County after getting charged $23,420 as part of a permit fee to build on his land. Now, his case is going before the U.S. Supreme Court. As George Sheetz and his wife envisioned their retirement, they bought 10 acres outside Placerville, in rural El Dorado County, with plans to install an 1,800-square-foot manufactured home. Tahoe's Heavenly gondola could reopen this week after mechanical issue – South Lake Tahoe's Heavenly Mountain Resort gondola could reopen as early as this week after a mechanical issue shut down the lift Jan. 4.
