Today's starting lineup
A three-week Texans homestand concludes today with another pivotal game at NRG Stadium, this one against fellow AFC playoff contender Denver. A key cog in the Texans' resurgence this season has been receiver Tank Dell. Jonathan M. Alexander profiles the rise of the former UH star whose journey to rookie stardom began in southeastern Kansas. While players like Dell and C.J. Stroud have gotten the lion's share of attention, the Texans' turnaround all starts with coach DeMeco Ryans, writes Jerome Solomon. For those with DirecTV or other AT&T services, today's game is on CBS, which is blacked out due to a carriage dispute with affiliate KHOU's owner Tegna. Here are some ways to watch for those impacted by the impasse.
The Dynamo's longest postseason run in six years ends with a loss to Los Angeles FC in the MLS Western Conference finals.
UH could have a new football coach as soon as today, as the Cougars are closing in on hiring Tulane's Willie Fritz.
Texas made an emphatic statement in the Big 12 championship game, hammering Oklahoma State in the Longhorns' closing argument for a spot in the College Football Playoff. But wins by No. 8 Alabama over No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Michigan and shorthanded No. 4 Florida State, the latter two to remain unbeaten, will make for an intriguing CFP committee decision on the final four. Michigan and fellow unbeaten Washington figure to be locks for the final four with Florida State, Texas, Alabama and Georgia vying for the other two spots. The selection show airs at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN.
At Texas A&M, there's really no grace period for new coach Mike Elko, who will be expected to win immediately.
Their eighth try wasn't enough for the Rockets to notch a road win. Instead, they turned in what coach Ime Udoka dubbed the worst performance of the season in getting blown out by the Lakers.

Closing argument?
Texas made a statement in its final Big 12 game, hammering Oklahoma State in the conference title game. Now the Longhorns await word on if it's enough to make the College Football Playoff.
- Complete game: Keilan Robinson and Texas came out fast and dominated Oklahoma State with a diverse offensive attack that fueled a Big 12 championship game rout.
- UT Extra Points: Takeaways from Texas' final game in the Big 12 that saw the Longhorns leave the league on top, coming full circle from their inaugural league season in 1996.
- Future is now: New Texas A&M coach Mike Elko takes over an Aggies program with the clear expectation to win now, not years down the road, in the SEC with Texas and Oklahoma arriving next season.
- Not going bowling: Texas A&M receiver Ainias Smith, expected to turn pro after the season, will miss the Aggies' bowl game with a finger injury, he said Saturday.
- Alabama 27, Georgia 24: Alabama is again top dog in the SEC — and perhaps headed to the College Football Playoff after the No. 8 Crimson Tide beat No. 1 Georgia in the conference championship game.
- Florida State 16, Louisville 6: Fourth-ranked Florida State made things as difficult as possible on the CFP selection committee after beating No. 14 Louisville to finish the regular season unbeaten with a third-string quarterback.
- Michigan 26, Iowa 0: Blake Corum scored twice as No. 2 Michigan beat No. 18 Iowa in the Big Ten championship game to likely take the top seed in the College Football Playoff.

- O-for continues: The Rockets remain in search of a victory on the road after getting discombobulated in a blowout loss to LeBron James and the Lakers.
- Honing his craft: Rockets rookie Cam Whitmore has showed he can do more than just score in the G League, an assignment the first-round pick has openly embraced.
