Today's starting lineup
The final weekend of the college football regular season concludes today with no lack of meaningful games. Texas takes on Oklahoma State in the Big 12 championship game with a final opportunity to make the Longhorns' case for a College Football Playoff berth (with some help needed elsewhere).
Stop us if you've read this before: The Rockets are still looking for their first road win of the season. They'll get their eighth try tonight in Los Angeles against the Lakers.
Another Houston team will be in Los Angeles tonight playing its biggest game in years. The Dynamo take on Los Angeles FC in Houston's first MLS Western Conference final since 2017.
As the accolades pile up, Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud only seems to get better. He'll be without one big target Sunday as tight end Dalton Schultz was ruled out for the pivotal game against the Broncos. That game is on CBS, whose local affiliate KHOU went dark Thursday for subscribers of DirecTV and other AT&T services. Here are some other ways to watch the Texans game and today's SEC championship on CBS.
The Astros finalize their coaching staff for 2024, with Omar López promoted to bench coach and a former Houston player rejoining the staff.
UH's basketball team remains unbeaten after gritting out a win at Xavier.
The high school football regional finals commenced Friday with Bellville moving on to to the state semifinals while Huntsville saw its season end against Port Neches-Groves.
Stat of the day: 11. Years since the Dynamo played in the MLS Cup. Houston's last appearance in the championship game was a 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2012.
