Which top prospects are the Astros most hesitant to trade?
Chron sports writer Michael Shapiro:
The Houston Astros aren't exactly the most protective franchise regarding their top prospects, most recently trading promising outfielder Drew Gilbert and lefty bat Ryan Clifford in order to bring back staff ace Justin Verlander. But general manager Dana Brown recently tabbed one prospect who isn't leaving Houston's farm system anytime soon.
Brown heaped praise on outfield prospect Jacob Melton last week during an appearance on the ASTROLINE podcast, hosted by Astros television play-by-play announcer Todd Kalas. Brown pointed to the 23-year-old outfielder as Houston's premier position-player prospect, telling Kalas "this guy's got a chance to be a stud."
