What you need to know about upcoming mail carrier holiday package deadlines

Santa Claus is coming to town... soon! He might need your help moving gifts along.

With only 2 weeks left until Christmas, it's time to start sending out gifts through mail carriers United States Postal Service, UPS and FedEx. I'll admit that I can be a procrastinator when it comes to buying and mailing gifts, so I tried to be proactive this year and buy presents for people during Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.

I'm not the only one planning ahead this year. USPS starts preparing for the holiday season as early as May, according to Kanickewa "Nikki" Johnson, the company's strategic communications specialist.

Deadlines for shipping holiday packages are coming up soon with the earliest on Dec. 13 for the FedEx Ground Economy shipping option.

Here are some tips and deadlines to know for an easy shipping experience, according to Johnson.

Do you like to plan your gifts ahead of time? How much did you spend on presents this year? Let's chat!
