Deputies: Suspect found with 5,700 gift cards at Sacramento Target part of larger scam – If you’re thinking of giving someone a gift card this holiday season, you might want to be aware of a new scam. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man accused of running a scam up and down the West Coast. It would have been a $2.89 million loss to consumers. The sheriff's office now has a room full of gift cards. 5,739 gift cards to be exact, but a third of them are fake. They were all taken from one arrest at a Target store in Sacramento County. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 34-year-old man was driving a 2006 Infiniti under the influence of drugs or alcohol around 10:25 p.m. Sunday when he drove through the stop sign at Princeton Avenue and Delaware Avenue, slamming into the 70-year-old's 1990 GMC. The driver of the Infiniti allegedly tried to run away from the scene, but employees who were leaving work a block away at Michael's Pizza stepped in, holding him until police could get there. Folsom, Rancho Cordova police condemn gifting of e-scooters during the holidays – The city of Folsom partnered with the city of Rancho Cordova, both cities’ police departments and the Folsom Cordova Unified School District to release a public service announcement ahead of the holiday season about the gifting of e-scooters. “While e-scooters may appear appealing, their safety implications are significant and deserve careful consideration,” the joint statement said. Terrified students and professors cowered in classrooms and dorms as a gunman roamed the floors of a University of Nevada, Las Vegas building, killing three people and critically wounding a fourth before dying in a shootout with police.
