Convenience Big Store: Viet-Cajun favorite Crawfish Cafe is coming to Cypress

The Cy-Fair Fire Department needs at least 20 new fire stations.

In last newsletter I shared how The Boardwalk at Town Lake expanded due to rapid population growth in Cypress.

That growth is also impacting emergency response in the area. The Cy-Fair Fire Department will be looking to add 20 more fire stations and more employees in the next 5 years.

"We are addressing the growth, we are monitoring our response times and increasing staffing as we see numbers increasing," said Cy-Fair Fire Department Chief of Operations Brent Scalise. "As we see more people move out here there's more and more traffic. There's obviously going to be more and more calls, and as a result of all that the number of units that we put on the streets every day needs to increase."

Cy-Fair ISD is investigating an altercation between a student and administrator, officials said.

Family members allege the student was injured during a hallway confrontation on Sept. 26. A statement from the district said the confrontation occurred after the student refused to return to class after repeated requests.

Asian-Cajun fusion restaurant Crawfish Cafe will expand to Cypress next year.

Crawfish Café is known for its fusion menu of Asian and Cajun dishes. Menu items include offerings like crawfish eggrolls, fried rice, crawfish entrees, snow crabs and other traditionally Cajun dishes with an Asian flair.

Children's Lighthouse has several greater Houston area locations.

A preschool that prioritizes character and values is planning a new Cypress location.

A Texas-based early learning preschool is set to open its 28th location in Cypress in the next year and a half.

Openings and closings

Chipotle Mexican Grill plans to open new location at 20703 Tuckerton Road, according to Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation listings.

Chipotle is an American fast food chain that is known for its made to order Mexican style bowls, tacos and burritos.
