Today's starting lineup
It's been a while since we've seen the Rockets assembled as a group. But they were out in force for Monday's media day and a new coach, veteran newcomers and an emerging young core have created a mindset that the franchise's rebuild is over. However, one person who won't be seen in the preseason — or perhaps ever again — in Houston togs is guard Kevin Porter Jr., who's facing assault and strangulation charges. General manager Rafael Stone addressed the allegations against Porter for the first time Monday.
With some huge hits last weekend in Arizona, José Abreu played a key role in the Astros winning another division title. After a trying regular season, he could be a key piece to the playoff puzzle.
Tonight on PBS, the first documentary on the Astros' sign-stealing scandal premieres. Here's what we learned from the film.
The Texans are on the upswing with consecutive wins. Jonathan M. Alexander shares his takeaways from Sunday's victory over the Steelers.
It's a much better Oklahoma team that awaits Texas in Saturday's Red River Rivalry game. Texas A&M hosts Alabama on Saturday and the matchup has become personal to the Aggies' Ainias Smith.
Stat of the day: 28. RBIs for Astros first baseman José Abreu in September (26 games), the most in the American League.

Potentially a big piece

- Dugout Download: On a new podcast episode, Matt Kawahara and Steve Schaeffer talk about the unexpected heroes who helped the Astros win another AL West title. And should Kyle Tucker have a 30th homer?
- Monster lineup: Since the Astros play so well in October, MLB Network's Mark DeRosa came up with a horror movie character for each Astros star.
- Postseason primer: The Astros are back in the playoffs, which means tickets and postseason merchandise are on sale and watch parties are in the works.
