Sugar Land software firm Modisoft is planning a 40K square feet HQ for its growing business

Modisoft, a Sugar Land-based software company founded 17 years ago by Sohail Modi to make it easier to run his convenience store business, is getting a new headquarters building. The company's software is used by retailers and restaurants to manage and grow their businesses.

Modi moved the headquarters to Sugar Land in 2016 after founding the company in San Antonio. Modisoft's software is used for point of sale, payment processing, inventory management, customer engagement and more.

Set to open in October of 2024, the 40,500-square-foot headquarters will provide a creative environment for employees to expand the company's products offerings. Modisoft recently broke ground on the four-story building at 6932 Brisbane Court near the University of Houston's Sugar Land campus.

The first two floors will be offered for lease to businesses such as real estate brokerages, legal service or insurance providers, according to Modisoft.

The Houston Community Land Trust plans to use its MacKenzie Scott grant to pilot a number of affordable housing ideas, such as using a 440 square-foot bungalow design that Prairie View A&M students designed for Houston Habitat for Humanity. The organization thinks it could sell such bungalows to homeowners for around $55,000 to $65,000, while keeping the land in a trust.
