Hunter Andrews spoke of being unable to beat rival Magnolia West in two attempts earlier this week.

The senior helped Magnolia come through in the 2023 Magnolia Bowl on Friday night.

Andrews totaled five rushing scores as the Bulldogs picked up a massive District 10-5A Division I win on the turf of the rival Mustangs.

"It's definitely the best game of my career so far," Andrews said. "The last two years they've got the best of us, and it feels good to actually come together and win and win big, too."

Magnolia, ranked No. 9 in the Chronicle's Class 5A poll, picked up its fourth consecutive victory to move to 5-2, 4-1 in district play.

Quote of the night: "We're going to get everyone's best which is what we want. We're only going to get better when we get people's best. We have gotten better, especially offensively tonight." - Westfield coach Matt Meekins on beating upstart Nimitz

Stat of the night: Klein Collins took a huge District 15-6A win and running back Michael Wilson was a big reason why. Wilson rushed for 256 yards on 20 carries with two touchdowns in a 35-14 win at Tomball Memorial.

Saturday's showcase: Houston ISD will be the focal point this evening as Yates and Furr clash in a pivotal District 11-4A Division I game at Barnett Stadium. Furr edged Yates 39-36 last year.
