The District 23-6A title race is a mess. But it's oh so much fun. For Pearland, Dawson and Shadow Creek, it might be a little stressful. Shadow Creek lost to Pearland earlier in the year. Then Dawson beat Pearland last week. Now, Shadow Creek has beaten Dawson. And it was a crazy game at The Rig. In the second overtime, Aaden Benjamin intercepted a pass on a two-point conversion attempt by Dawson and returned it 99 yards to clinch the Sharks' 27-25 victory in a game that was scoreless at halftime. While Shadow Creek and Dawson battled, Pearland took care of business against Alief Taylor. All three teams are now 4-1 in district play. Quote of the night: "We just believe in each other. We always believe in each other." – Cypress Falls running back Trey Morris after the Golden Eagles broke up Cypress Springs' perfect season. Stat of the night: 285. The number of rushing yards for Episcopal standout Brandon Thomas, who scored five touchdowns in the Knights' 42-35 win over SPC 4A rival Kinkaid. Saturday's showcase: It'll be a busy Saturday for Cy-Fair ISD as Pridgeon Stadium and Cy-Fair FCU Stadium combine to host three games. Over at Turner Stadium in Humble, Atascocita and C.E. King are set for a key District 21-6A matchup. |
