If you read the one thing: The Conroe oilfield has been quiet for more than 30 years, but a Cut and Shoot man, Brent Franklin, has changed that after launching his own company and bringing the field back to life.
Who is Franklin?
Franklin, the owner of Rise Drilling, dropped out of Conroe High School during ninth grade to work and eventually enlist in the United States Navy.
Once out of the military, Franklin began flipping houses and learning about investing. After getting burned by an oil and gas investment, he decided to start his own business contracting with companies to revive oil wells.
What are the Conroe oilfields?
When the rest of the country was in the grips of the Great Depression in 1931, developer George Strake Sr. discovered oil, lifting the area out of economic turmoil and bringing thousands of people to the area.
Why is Franklin focused on old oilfields?
Bringing oil and gas production back to Montgomery County is important for Franklin. He hopes his businesses will allow others to invest in the oil and gas industry.
"We know there is oil and gas that has been left behind," Franklin said. "There just hasn't been anyone chasing it. If we are going to maintain positive cash flow and energy independence in our nation, we need to develop as much as possible. Conroe is a significant source for oil and gas."
