2 men shot at Murieta Equestrian Center – Two men were injured in an overnight shooting at the Murieta Equestrian Center, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said Thursday. The shooting happened along Lone Pine Drive at an equestrian center in Rancho Murieta. Deputies got reports of a shooting around 2:30 a.m. Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office, said the shooting happened after a fight over an earlier soccer match.

California motorcycle officer, survivor of Las Vegas mass shooting, killed in LA area highway crash – A Southern California police officer who was a hero of the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting died Wednesday when his motorcycle was hit by a car on a Los Angeles-area highway, authorities said. Manhattan Beach Police Officer Chad Swanson was likely heading to work when the collision happened shortly after 5 a.m. on Interstate 405 in Carson, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CapRadio: Multiple board members resign after audit finds financial mismanagement – Over a dozen members of Capitol Public Radio's board members resigned Wednesday after an audit found operational and financial mismanagement, according to CapRadio. The audit, requested by former Sacramento State President Robert S. Nelsen in 2022, found "poor recordkeeping in several areas, a lack of management oversight, a lack of accounting and financial knowledge during the audit period, and a need to enhance several processes." The resignations come a day after Sacramento State opposed the board's vote to hire a new general manager with a salary of nearly half a million dollars a year.
