| Editor's note: An older version of this newsletter sent this morning, so we're sending again to give you the latest! There were plenty of fireworks Friday night at Montgomery ISD Stadium. We're not talking about actual explosives here. But Lake Creek and Randle certainly put on a show. The Class 5A teams combined for more than 1,000 yards of total offense as Lake Creek emerged with a 59-34 victory in a battle between unbeatens. The No. 4 state-ranked Lions improved to 5-0 for the second consecutive season. Lake Creek was led by running back Ty Ty Byars, who rushed for 178 yards and four touchdowns. Randle, meanwhile, received a huge game from freshman Landis Callis-Williams, who rushed for 191 yards and a score. Quote of the night: "I couldn't be prouder of our program. Our best linebacker didn't play, and then our middle linebacker got hurt. We talked about having a next-man-up mentality. The kids just played their tails off." - Dickinson coach John Snelson after a 35-14 victory against Clear Springs. Stat of the night: Cinco Ranch sophomore Davis Roup, making his second varsity start, connected on a school-record six touchdown passes during a 49-42 victory against Morton Ranch. Saturday's showcase: Episcopal has been on a roll this season and is ranked No. 3 in the state among private schools. The Knights (4-0) have outscored their opponents 169-41. They have one more game before diving into Southwest Preparatory Conference play against Dallas Parish next week. Their final tune-up comes... |
