Katy ISD students are back in school. Let's show our teachers some love.
Take a quick moment and think about of the most influential non-relatives from your childhood.
I'd wager that at least one of those people is a teacher.
My list has three teachers on it. These educators set me on the course for where I am today. I don't know where I'd be without them, but I likely wouldn't be a writer.
Teachers see things in us that we don't see in ourselves. They find that spark in us and breathe life into it until it ignites.
It's ironic that we owe so much gratitude to someone in such a thankless job.
I could be totally off base here, but I think the profession of teaching has gotten harder for educators. It's never been a glamorous job, but the world is becoming more and more polarized, and teachers are often caught in the middle of the infighting. I'm being intentionally vague here because this isn't a political commentary, but I believe most of us would agree that teachers today face unprecedented challenges.
Here's where I'm going with this: let's all make an effort to give our teachers extra support and grace this year. Their jobs are difficult but also so incredibly critical to the fabric of our society.
What are some of your favorite ways to show love and appreciation for teachers? Do you agree that the profession as a whole has become more challenging? Share your thoughts with me.
