Today's starting lineup
On a night when soccer seemed to dominate the sports world — the U.S. women's 2-0 win in the World Cup and Lionel Messi's dramatic goal in his MLS debut — the Astros didn't go unnoticed.
Kyle Tucker hit three home runs, the first Astro to that in game since Yordan Alvarez, to lead a 6-4 win over the A's.
"Three homers in one game is a pretty good day at the office," Ryan Pressly said. "Tuck's a special player. He puts in a lot of work … It's nothing new to me — I've seen him do it in batting practice and stuff like that. But he's kind of forming into a low-key superstar."
It was a special night for Pressly as well, as he picked up his 100th save. Since 2020 when he became the team's closer, only Kenley Jansen and Josh Hader have more saves.
Houston picked up a game on the Rangers for the first-time since the All-Star break but it was a bit of a rough game for starter Framber Valdez.
One interesting item, outfielders Chas McCormick and Jake Meyers have a unique combination. They are the only two position players in the majors this season to bat righthanded and throw lefthanded.
Stat of the day: 100. Career saves for Ryan Pressly, 99 of which have come with the Astros.
