I tried Katy readers' pick for best breakfast tacos. It was worth it.

Plus: 3 new Katy restaurants. Lawsuit against horse trainer.

I tried out the so-called "best breakfast tacos in Katy." I was not disappointed.

Ever since my favorite breakfast taco food truck shut down, I've been bereft of good breakfast tacos. So I did what anyone in my position would do-- I asked my readers to tell me where I could find the best breakfast tacos in Katy.

The results of my reader poll were staggering. We had dozens of responses, but Taqueria Tex-Taco got 87 percent of the votes. I do a lot of these polls, but I've never seen such a clear winner.

So this weekend, I made the voyage to Taqueria Tex-Taco to see what all the fuss was about. Here's how it went down:

Taqueria Tex-Taco is a food truck, which I didn't realize until my GPS took me to an industrial park.

I would have figured it out pretty quickly, I think, were the food truck not located behind the park. From the street it's pretty obstructed, so if you decide to seek out Katy's best breakfast tacos for yourself, don't get discouraged when all you see is an HVAC shop, a garage door installation company and a guns and ammo store. Keep going; you're almost there.

Once I actually found the food truck, I felt a bit ridiculous for not finding it sooner. It's in a relatively large space, and even though this was about 8 a.m. on a Sunday, throngs of people were standing in line.

When I got to the front of the line, I panicked and bought three of everything and took them home to my family.

Katy Insiders, you did not disappoint. The breakfast tacos were nothing short of delicious, and I'd like to personally thank everyone who voted.

I'd like to extend the same courtesy to all of you if there's something you want to know about Katy. What's the next reader poll I should do? One last thing ...

Thanks to my colleague Peter Breen, I now know that dolphins can turn pink.

The local cetaceans turn pink as a way to dump excess heat when they're active, Peter reports. It's a process called vasodilation, and it permits more blood to flow within the peripheral arteries and diffuse heat into the cooler environment.

So there you have it. The dolphins are so hot they're turning pink.
