The Bid

A mansion once owned by former Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub is up for grabs in Tanglewood. The home is highlighted in our latest installment of The Bid, which looks at interesting properties on the market and asks readers to guess the price.

Schaub, who played for the Texans from 2007 to 2014, sold the 10,840-square-foot home near Chimney Rock and San Felipe in 2015. The current owners acquired an adjacent lot in 2021 to expand the property to more than an acre — or close to the size of a football field.

"It's one of the biggest lots (on the market) in Tanglewood," said Ellie Riney, real estate agent with Nan and Company Properties' RL Realty Group who is marketing the property.

The owners also completed a $1.5 million makeover to modernize the interior design. Plus, the backyard features a remodeled pool, hot tub and outdoor dining and kitchen area. Scroll through the photos and specs on the 5-bedroom home and take a guess at the price.
