Having a vacation home is certainly a luxury that not every family can enjoy, but Joann and Mike Cone managed to buy one in 1988 and as they went from parents to grandparents to great-grandparents, their 187-acre Brenham spread has grown so that their large family will always have it to share. They began with a historic home and a donkey barn, then the barn was renovated to have three bedrooms. As following generations made it impossible to share all at once, they added a big guest house with seven suites and a seven-bed bunk room. It's a true family legacy property for four generations of the Cone family. This newsletter also includes stories about the mother-daughter duo behind Longoria Collection adding a bedding line, plus a story about a Claude Monet pastel on paper that will go up for auction in Houston later this month. I hope you'll read stories by my colleagues: Joy Sewing's story about former KPRC anchor Dominique Sachse's new podcast for women over 50 and two stories by Bao Ong, one about five great Texas wines and another about Padma Lakshmi's "Taste of the Nation" episode about Nigerian food in Houston. |
