| Welcome back and happy New Year! A few weeks ago, I mentioned local yoga teacher and Houston Chronicle correspondent Marci Sharif's article about choosing a word to describe your intentions for the new year. I was discussing this with one of my best friends on Tuesday night, and I chose the word peace. I chose peace because I want to get closer to being content within all aspects of my life. I neglected the activities that brought me peace the past couple years, such as painting, involvement with the Asian-American communities and being spontaneous. Houston Chronicle reporter Ryan Nickerson listed some events coming to Houston this year, and I am thinking about attending some of them with friends tha could help me find peace this year. I plan to attend the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, specifically to experience another concert. I love going to stand-up comedy shows; so I hope I can go to the Riot Comedy Festival in March as well. Pearland also has some events to look forward to such as the Old Pearland Farmers Market which is held every third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Pearland Chinese Association will be hosting and celebrating the 2023 Lunar New Year at Pearland Junior High West on Saturday, January 21 from 2 to 5 p.m. What are your intentions for 2023? What are you planning to do this year? Let me know at pooja.bhakta@chron.com |
