| President Joe Biden visited El Paso on Sunday to highlight his border and immigration policy proposals and to attempt to shore up public sentiment of how he's handling the issue. Public polling both in Texas and nationally shows voters want more border security and disapprove of how Biden has handled the issue. Recent polling from the Pew Research Center showed 73 percent of Americans agree that it's important to increase security to reduce crossings. Sunday, Biden visited the Bridge of the Americas Port of Entry in El Paso where he met with border patrol officers, then spent time at the El Paso County Migrant Services Center, which is supported by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He also visited with faith leaders, non-governmental aid agencies and business leaders. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott met Biden at the airport, but not before criticizing the president. "He and the Democrats are going to suffer mightily at the ballot box when Joe Biden is up for re-election because he's not fulfilling his job as commander in chief," Abbott said earlier on Sunday.
