| The Rockets lost their ninth game in a row, falling in Sacramento to the Kings for the second time this week. After giving up a season-high 135 points in Wednesday's loss, Houston allowed 139 in Friday's defeat. Although the root of Houston's NBA-worst record (10-32) is its inept defense, the issues go beyond being powerless to lock down opponents' star players. The Astros agreed to salary figures with six of their eight arbitratioin-eligible players, including a nice big raise for Framber Valdez. But the team couldn't agree with Cristian Javier and Kyle Tucker. Both Javier and Tucker are logical candidates for long-term contract extensions. That the Astros could not find common ground for a 2023 salary is at least somewhat foreboding for future negotiations, but not at all a deal-breaker.
