| It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas — unfortunately, without the snow! In our house, we're making sure our water is dripping throughout the night. The arctic cold front will arrive tonight, with temperatures expected to drop to the 20s and teens. Houston weather expert Matt Lanza provides information on what to expect and how it compares to the 2021 freeze. Remember to also take care of your pets and plants. Brandi Keller offers tips for protecting your plants from a hard freeze. Make sure to keep your pets inside because it is illegal to leave them outside in freezing temperatures according to animal welfare organizations, reports Rebecca Hennes. The Safe Outdoor Dogs Act requires that animals have access to adequate shelter during inclement weather, including access to food and water and room to move around comfortably, and bans the use of unsafe restraints and heavy chain tethers. To keep up with the forecast, Texas power grid and tips on how to prep, check out Rebecca Hennes' article. Our newsletter will be taking a break over the holidays but don't worry — we'll be back Jan. 5. Have a safe and warm weekend and Happy New Year! What are your biggest concerns about the cold front?
