The Rice Harvest Festival was this weekend, and it did not disappoint. The Houston Chronicle had a photographer on scene snapping pictures of festival-goers, so if you attended the festival, check out our slideshow and see if your smiling mug made the website. I've been attending Rice Fest for many years now, and this was the best year yet. Highlights for me were shopping, winning a stuffed husky in a dart game and watching my 12-year-old son haul giant ice bags around with the mayor. I needed an interview with the mayor, the mayor needed help moving ice, so we just knocked out both at the same time. That's kind of how it is living in Katy. We work together. The lowlight for me was the fact I forgot I have vertigo and got on "The Sizzler" at the carnival. That was humbling. More than anything, I loved chatting with the people of Katy. I want to issue special thanks to the readers that flagged me down and introduced themselves. I also want to thank the folks who took the time to speak with me and tell me their stories and what the Katy Rice Harvest Festival means to them. Did you attend the Rice Harvest Festival? If so, did you find yourself in the photo gallery? What was your favorite part of the celebrations? Email me at claire.goodman@chron.com. |
