| Growing up as an offensive lineman, Mabrey Mettauer has an even larger appreciation for what the big men up front do to help The Woodlands' offense succeed. Mettauer, the Highlanders' 6-foot-5, 215-pound junior quarterback, played in the trenches until he reached the high school ranks. Although he plays a different position now, Mettauer feels as if he is still kindred spirits with his offensive linemen. "They're my brothers," Mettauer said. "I've grown up with every single one of those O-linemen. It's a band of brothers on the O-line. We have team dinners with each other, and I just think all of us together have really good chemistry. They'll do anything for me, and I'll do anything for them." The Woodlands offensive line has been performing at a high level this season. The Highlanders (6-2, 5-1) will continue District 13-6A action Friday night against Caney Creek. Read our full story on the team's offensive line from Conroe Courier sports editor Rob Tate here. Three things to watch Morris leading Cypress Falls: After a breakthrough junior season, Cypress Falls running back Trey Morris was hungry for even more success. Now he has the Golden Eagles on the brink of the program's first playoff appearance since 2019. The team has another big game against Cypress Springs on Friday. Check out Al Montaño's feature story on the talented ball carrier. Atascocita looks to keep rolling: Atascocita is perhaps the best one-loss team in the state of Texas. The No. 7 state-ranked Eagles have won five consecutive games since dropping a close nondistrict clash against No. 5 Katy. Atascocita has its next test Friday on the road against C.E. King in District 21-6A action. Marcus Gutierrez checked in with the Eagles ahead of the game. Read his story here. Unbeaten records on the line: Shadow Creek, Katy, Klein Collins and Galveston Ball will all put their unblemished records to the test this week against quality opponents. All of the matchups carry district title implications. Can these teams avoid the upsets, or will they be handed their first losses of the year? We'll soon find out.
