Katy RB Seth Davis might be the headliner, but his backup Dallas Glass is pretty good, too.

Everyone knows what Katy running back Seth Davis brings to the field. The Mississippi State commit has rushed for more than 5,000 yards in his career and is fifth on the Tigers' all-time list. But when No. 5 state-ranked Katy was without Davis on Thursday during a big District 19-6A matchup against Jordan, senior Dallas Glass stepped up and delivered a monster performance during a 70-21 victory.

Three weekend takeaways

St. Thomas making history: St. Thomas improved to 5-0 for the first time since 2013 with a 35-14 victory over Kinkaid on Friday. Quarterback Donte Lewis and running back Johann Cardenas led the charge offensively. Lewis continued his impressive season for the Eagles, completing 15-of-20 passes for 235 yards and four touchdowns. Cardenas finished the contest with 178 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries.

Lake Creek drops 80 points: State-ranked Lake Creek is off to the best start in program history at 6-0 and broke several records Friday night with an 80-55 victory against crosstown rival Montgomery. Sophomore running back Tyvonn Byars had another monster night for the Lions rushing for a program-record 309 yards and six touchdowns on 30 carries. Lake Creek is averaging 58.5 points per game.

Is Worthing playoff worthy?: Worthing is looking to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2017 season. The Colts moved one step closer to getting back into the postseason with their second straight District 11-4A Division I win, beating Kashmere 29-27 on Saturday afternoon. Davion Edward had 24 carries for 163 yards with two touchdowns for Worthing. He also threw a touchdown and had an interception on defense.

It's time for another edition of our high school volleyball power rankings. These rankings are based on overall and recent performances, quality wins, strength of schedule and team accomplishments.

Tompkins (29-3, 10-0) extended its winning streak to 10 matches last week with a sweep against Katy and a four-set victory over Cinco Ranch.

2. Cypress Ranch | Previous rank: 2

Cypress Ranch (34-2, 7-0) has perhaps the most momentum of any team in the Houston area right now with 18 consecutive victories under its belt.

3. The Woodlands | Previous rank: 3

This week will be a big one for the Highlanders, who, barring some kind of epic collapse, can essentially wrap up the District 13-6A title with victories over Conroe and Grand Oaks, respectively.

Highlight of the week

Cy-Fair running back Zaccheas Baynes had a big game Friday, rushing for 125 yards and helping the Bobcats beat Jersey Village. Watch one of his three touchdown runs, via Dave Campbell's Texas Football and Texan Live.

Shout out

Tompkins graduate Jalen Milroe stepped in for injured Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young during Alabama's 49-26 victory against Arkansas Saturday. Milroe had a standout performance for the Crimson Tide, passing for 65 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 91 yards and another score.
