A Katy resident is $19 million richer after winning the Texas lottery jackpot, and while the winner is remaining anonymous, the fact that I'm writing this means it wasn't me.  I don't enjoy gambling and I never think to buy lottery tickets, but I can't help but fantasize about what I'd do with $19 million. I hope I'd be smart like this Katy resident and keep the news to myself, but there will be signs. If I suddenly drop off the grid, buy a ranch and start my own dog rescue, go ahead and assume I scored the mega-millions. What would you do if you won the lottery? What's the first thing you'd buy? The sports and outdoors retailer based in Katy has embarked on a national expansion campaign after experiencing record sales during the pandemic.   Sheriff: 13-year-old boy shot by older teen in possible accident at Fort Bend home. A teenage boy was injured in what was possibly an accidental shooting, officials said.   Need to know   Looking to work for Katy ISD? This evening from 5-7 p.m. at Morton Ranch High School, the district is hosting an Operations Job Fair for positions in the Nutrition & Food Services, Maintenance & Operations and Transportation departments.  Interested candidates should complete an application at www.katyisd.org before attending the job fair.  Hard copy resumes are recommended for attendees, as well as preparation for onsite interviews.    Shout out   Gabriela Bautista Teíllez, a senior at Seven Lakes High School, is one of the winners of the national Shine a Light on Bilingualism student art contest. Teíllez said, "I am from Mexico, and I like to show my Hispanic identity proudly. I wanted to convey the beauty of the fusion of cultures and traditions; I think this mixture is enriching in all aspects."   One last thing ...   Is hurricane season over in Texas? According to meteorologists, Texans may be able to bid hurricane season an early farewell. While the official end of hurricane season in Texas is Nov. 30, the chances of being hit by a hurricane after Sept. 24 is about one in 50. As I write this, I'm crossing my fingers, knocking on wood and contemplating burning sage just so I don't jinx us. What do you think? Are we in the clear.
