Kaiser Permanente made the announcement Tuesday. They said over 2,200 of its nationwide employees have been placed on unpaid administrative leave as of Oct. 4. They added that employees have until Dec. 1 to either get vaccinated or risk losing their jobs. Sept. 30 was the deadline for health care workers, including assisted living facility workers, to get vaccinated or get an exemption. ABC10 in September checked with major health care systems in the region. (Gilbert Cordova, ABC10) Caltrans removes another homeless camp while Sacramento shelters remain at capacity – Caltrans removed another homeless camp in Sacramento on Tuesday, located between F and H streets underneath Interstate 80. This is the second cleanup done by Caltrans in less than a week. Candis Montoya and her husband have been experiencing homelessness for three years now and they spent Tuesday moving their pets and belongings from under I-80 to just a few blocks away. Sandy Vasholz, a neighbor in the area, said she feels bad for the people impacted, but noted that the situation has gotten out of control. (Lena Howland, ABC10) Lassen Volcanic National Park partially reopens as Dixie Fire still burns nearby – Portions of the Lassen Volcanic National Park have reopened to the public to visit. Lassen National Park officials said on Monday, Oct. 4, that the Lassen Volcanic National Park Highway opened eight miles from the southwest entrance to Lassen Peak parking area and 1 mile from the northwest entrance to Loomis Plaza. In a Facebook post from the park, visitors can see maps of the areas open and currently closed. For example, officials said the remaining section of the highway between Loomis Plaza and Lassen Peak parking area remains closed because of the ongoing fight with the Dixie Fire and post-fire recovery traffic.
