Many people are able to bypass the recent vaccination mandate by opting to get tested weekly, though even this procedure is sometimes not enforced. The Department of Human Resources said the state does not have a fully functional testing program yet for those who are not vaccinated. (Morgan Rynor, ABC10) Man was caught stealing a catalytic converter after leaving his I.D. at the crime scene – The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said the 34-year-old left his I.D. and under a car he just burglarized. When deputies searched his home, they also found a stolen laptop that belonged to the San Juan Unified School District . Timothy Andrew Eccel was booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail where he faces charges of felony grand theft, felony vandalism and possession of burglary tools. (Joseph Daniels, ABC10) Sacramento police, fire and utility departments have the city's lowest vaccination numbers – While 79% of Sacramento employees are immunized, higher than the state average, not all departments reflect those numbers. The city fire department reported a COVID-19 vaccination rate of 76%, and both the department of utilities and police department show a rate of 73%. Of the 13 police officers who did not report their vaccination status by Oct. 13, most were either reserve officers, working part time or on approved leave.
