Thousands of already-frustrated parents from across California pulled their children out of school for a protest at the State Capital, hoping to get Gov. Gavin Newsom's attention. Some parents participating in the organized gathering told ABC10 their children shouldn't be subject to a immunization mandate. Local school districts: don't pull your kids from class to protest – As thousands of parents take their children out of school to the state capital for a protest on the vaccine mandate, school district officials said kids have been kept away from classrooms long enough. Instead, Twin Rivers Unified School District Superintendent Steve Martinez said parents should send a letter or video message to Gov. Gavin Newsom. The mandates were passed down to the school from the California Department of Public Health, another local school district superintendent said, parents shouldn't be protesting against the individual districts.
