| What's it like being a woman firefighter throughout California's wildfires – Standing beside her United States Forest Service engine parked deep in the Eldorado National Forest, veteran wildland firefighter Kaleena Lynde said she started her career at just 19. According to the National Fire Protection Association, women firefighters only make up less than 10% of the U.S. Fire Service. But as wildfires continue growing larger, more leading women are coming into the fray to contain and exnihilate wildfires alongside the men. (Andie Judson, ABC10) Car shop owner stops attempted kidnapping in Sacramento – After noticing the sounds of screams outside his garage, Arden business owner Ashraf Ali saw a barefooted woman attempt to wrangle a baby out of their stroller. “I want baby,” Ali says the woman shouted. “Give me baby.” Security video shows him running out of the garage to protect the stroller, the woman tried approaching again but Ali stood his ground and she eventually left the area. The Pakistan native says he is strong in his faith and feels blessed by God to have been in a position to help. (Giacomo Luca, ABC10) Ski resorts surrounding South Lake Tahoe opening early because of huge snowfall – Resorts opening their doors early for a historic October start include Boreal Mountain and Palisades Tahoe. Along with record rainfall, the ski resorts experienced record snowfall — giving them enough reason to kick off the season. More than 3 feet of snow blessed the mountain tops and provided protection from bushes and the hard floor. People began lining up for the Oct. 29 openings since Monday morning, and will have the chance to take the slopes on Halloween.
