'We are so lucky' | After Highway 50 reopens, property owners survey homes protected by fire crews – With Highway 50 officially open, some property owners finally went to survey their homes. Cabin owners along 41 Milestone tract, just passed Kyburz, learned just how hard fire crews worked to protect homes. "I just can't thank all these people enough," explained Carl Sawtell. "They saved all the cabins in this tract." Sawtell's cabin had been owned by his family for 80 years. He said he had heard the community of cabins within his tract would still be standing, but said he knew there would still be a lot of work to do. (Barbara Bingley, ABC10) 2 Sacramento area restaurants receive Michelin Guide's Bib Gourmand status – Two Sacramento area restaurants have received a special Michelin designation. The two restaurants in the Sacramento region are Yue Huang, 3860 Truxel Road, in Sacramento, and Nixtaco, 1805 Cirby Way #12, in Roseville. In total, 45 restaurants in California received the designation. Michelin representatives will recognize the restaurants with a star selection on Tuesday, Sept. 28. What is the Bib Gourmand award? According to Michelin's website, the designation rewards "good quality, good value restaurants." When describing Yue Huang, Michelin's press release focuses on the restaurant's dim sum menu. And if you want to visit Nixtaco, the Roseville taqueria offers "a sweet little spot that packs big flavor punch." (Joseph Jarosz, ABC10) Bill sitting on Newsom's desk could strip bad cops of their badges – California is one of only four states that does not have a decertification process in place for bad cops. But that could change at any minute with Senate Bill 2 sitting on Governor Gavin Newsom's desk. The bill creates an advisory board, made up of mostly civilians, that will make recommendations to the state’s Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. That commission will have the power to strip an officer of their badge. Senator Steve Bradford co-authored SB2. "It's a method of getting rid of bad officers," Bradford said. "We all know there are bad teachers, there are bad doctors, bad lawyers. We have to believe that there are bad police officers, and right now, we can't do that here in California."
