Authorities say she's been missing for about a week. It's left the teenager's mother terrified and desperate for answers. "I love her unconditionally, and no matter where she's at or what she's doing, I love her... I just need a sign that she's okay," Janice Enriquez, Bluuejaye's mother. After seven sleepless nights, Enriquez says her family feels alone in the search for her daughter, a biracial young woman of Hispanic and American Indian heritage. (Staff at ABC10) California to consider vaccine mandate for school children 12 and older – California's Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly spoke to reporters on Thursday morning to provide an update on the state's efforts to prepare for the administration of the COVID-19 booster shots. Dr. Ghaly discussed the 'COVID-19 Action Plan' consisting of four issues the administration would like to tackle. Part of that plan includes taking into consideration if schools in California should mandate the vaccine for students of all ages, if they are eligible. Dr. Ghaly emphasized vaccinating the unvaccinated, partnering with health clinics and pharmacies and operating and implementing plans from the FDA on their approval of the booster shot. (Simone Soublet, ABC10) As California’s drought deepens, water use drops only 1.8% –Californians reduced their water use at home by a meager 1.8% statewide in July compared to last year, even after Gov. Gavin Newsom urged residents to conserve 15% and drought continues to spread across the state. Officials today warned water providers south of the Delta who rely on state water allocations — already slashed to 5% this year — to brace for the possibility of zero supply next year. The Department of Water Resources also cautioned that next year’s cuts in supply could expand to growers and others known as settlement contractors, whose claims to the water predate California’s massive systems of reservoirs, aqueducts and canals.
