Family identifies Sacramento hit-and-run victim as 87-year-old grandmother – Families members have identified the victim in a deadly hit-and-run crash as Lien Dang, an 87-year-old grandmother. The incident happened Saturday night on Lemon Hill Avenue off Stockton Boulevard. Few details about the crash were initially released, but it ultimately claimed Dang's life. Family members said the elderly woman was in the area, roughly four to five blocks from her home in South Sacramento to feed the hungry and homeless when a driver struck her and took off. Her daughter said the family has been left heartbroken that someone would take off after hitting an elderly person. (Van Tieu, ABC10)

Doctors in Yuba, Sutter, Colusa counties make urgent plea for COVID vaccinations – A group of doctors in Yuba, Sutter and Colusa counties are pleading to be trusted when they say, "please get vaccinated." Behind hospital doors, providers with the Yuba-Sutter-Colusa Medical Society say they’re exhausted. “The last two to three weeks have been pretty inundated with our third and what has been the worst, so far, wave of COVID in our community,” said Kamara Graham, emergency medicine physician and medical director at Adventist Health + Rideout. Since mid-August, 10 to 27 Yuba-Sutter county ICU beds have been filled each week, according to bi-county data. (Van Tieu, ABC10)

California State Fair to return in Summer 2022 – Cal Expo's Board of Directors said the California State Fair and Food Festival will return next year from July 15 through July 31. “While Cal Expo has been honored to provide support and much-needed aid to Californians during this health crisis, our region and state have greatly missed the excitement of the State Fair,” Chair of the Cal Expo Board of Directors Jess Durfee said in a statement Friday. The fair was postponed in 2021 and canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since March 2020, Cal Expo has been utilized as a mass COVID-19 testing site as well as providing shelter trailers and warming stations for unhoused people and has served as the location for two mass vaccination sites.
