The real purpose of the State Fair of Texas is to send you directly into a coma by way of fried food. It's just tradition.

And, of course, Texans rise to challenge every year by submitting their own fried creations to be served during the fair.

The State Fair announced the 10 finalists for its Big Tex Choice Awards, giving us a sneak peek into which sweets and snacks will draw lines of hungry fair-goers.
