Plaque honoring Folsom mother's late son was stolen – A Folsom mother is heartbroken after her late son's plaque was allegedly stolen near the site of where he died two years ago in a car crash. But, she says, there's still some silver linings. Cindy Borhart's son Josh died in 2019 in a car accident. She placed the plaque on a tree located along East Natomas Street in Folsom, the site of the crash, and checks it often. However, when she checked the tree on Monday, something stood out. "I noticed the memorial plaque was gone," Bohart said. She called the Folsom police and the officer who responded was the same officer who was first on scene at her son's accident. "I can get another plaque," Bohart said. "I can get another one on the tree, but what came out of [Monday] was so much more valuable. Super grateful for that. It was just full circle, and it was the best thing." The crash happened on Pershing Avenue and West March Lane around 2 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, when officials say a car hit the fire truck, which caused the truck to hit a building. Fireman Dan La Rock was ejected, leaving him with a fractured femur, fractured vertebrae, fractured ribs, and a ruptured spleen. "Daniel La Rock has a lot of friends on the Stockton Fire Department. He strives to be a Stockton firefighter," said Mario Gardea with the Stockton Fire Department. Scott and Becky Ishmael said they lost everything in the fire. “This is what we were going to spend the rest of our life (in). We set ourselves up to make this kind of our dream place, and currently, the dream is still here but the home isn’t,” Scott said. What remained was a pile of old framed photos, paperwork, and even some jewelry sitting on a bench outside of the home. The Ishmaels learned a firefighter went in to grab what he could after learning the house wouldn't make it. The Ishmaels are now focused on rebuilding as they wait to hear from insurance adjusters. “Fires will come, fires will go. If you live your whole life worrying about things, you’re not living your life. So being in the moment, we’re staying,” Scott said.
