It may be that two million Californians will soon be asked to conserve water, yet that effort to save H20 amid the drought is likely coming for the entire state. The Sacramento Regional Water Authority (RWA) urged its 20 local water providers on Thursday to consider asking customers to voluntarily conserve water. This would impact 2 million in the Sacramento region as summer approaches. There are other alternatives in the works, but RWA says they would like to see residents save up to 10% of their daily water use. (Matthew Nuttle, Giacomo Luca, ABC10) Grassroots effort to save Sacramento's elm trees enlists 'community scientists' – The Sacramento Tree Foundation is enlisting "community scientists" to help protect some of the largest and most historic plants in the "City of Trees." Elm trees offer shade and other health benefits, but are threatened by the fatal Dutch elm disease. With its Save the Elms program, the foundation trains neighbors to watch out for signs of the disease, then report any concerns using an app. (Luke Cleary, ABC10) Sacramento Farm-to-Fork Festival to return September 2021 – Visit Sacramento announced it plans to bring back the Farm-to-Fork Festival this fall after canceling it in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Potentially thousands of people could attend the food-forward event that runs from Sept. 9 through Sept. 18 featuring the Sacramento region's wine, food and other local goods on Capitol Mall. The event's specific details and ticket information will be released later this summer.
