Gavin Newsom is set to unveil his $100 billion 'California Comeback Plan' throughout this week, which includes more Golden State Stimulus checks. Newsom's proposed expanded Golden State Stimulus will provide an additional $11.9 billion in direct cash payments to Californians. "Two out of every three Californians will benefit from a stimulus check of at least $600, and families with kids will now benefit from an additional $500," according to a press release from the Governor's office. But with the tax deadline just over a week away, over 1.5 million eligible tax filing Californians still haven’t claimed their Golden State Stimulus Payment for round one of direct relief. You could be eligible and not know it. (Samantha Solomon, ABC10) Sacramento region zip codes are falling behind state in vaccination efforts – More than 70 zip codes within the greater Sacramento region have vaccinated fewer than 30% of the population over 16. With California's overall rate at 42%, the Sacramento region is falling behind in fully vaccinating younger folks. Sacramento County Public Health is trying to bring in more community locations and do more outreach, but misinformation and vaccine hesitancy are stalling efforts to bring the vaccination rate toward 'herd immunity' status. (Chelsea Shannon, Luke Cleary, ABC10) Several candidates announce run for Sacramento County District Attorney in what could be a historic race – Still a year away, the race for Sacramento County District Attorney is already heating up. Two potential candidates have officially announced they want to replace District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert after she announced she is running for state attorney general. Both Sacramento County Deputy DA Paris Coleman, and Former Deputy DA Alana Mathews have announced their intent to run. If elected, either would make history as the county's first African American District Attorney.
