Click here Northern California family celebrates Disneyland re-opening, highlighting California's COVID turnaround – Disneyland reopened with applause and some modifications after a 13-month closure. Those applauding were the employees of The Happiest Place on Earth, who lined up all over the park and even at the opening entrance, clapping and welcoming guests back to the park. Theme park employees were eager to get back to work after a year of uncertainty. One Northern California family was lucky enough to score passes for the occasion: the Traynors from Rio Linda stepped into Disneyland on reopening day. Dad Tristan, mom Chrissy, and son Justin met with ABC10’s Mark S. Allen before entering the park Friday morning. Tristan has been visiting Disneyland since 1998 and said he has never seen the park so empty. (Associated Press and Matthew Nuttle, ABC10) The department suspended all residential outdoor burning of landscape debris, including branches and leaves to avoid an accidental blaze. (Chelsea Shannon, ABC10) Cal Fire bans residential, outdoor burns in parts of San Joaquin, Stanislaus counties – It's windy and it's dry, meaning the Cal Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit [TCU] has suspended all burn permits for outdoor or open residential burning until the fire danger passes. The ban is effective starting at 8:00 AM on Monday, May 3 within parts of Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Stanislaus County and San Joaquin County.California Legislature proposes bill that would ban sale of new gas-powered leaf blowers, lawn mowers – Assemblymembers Marc Berman (D-Menlo Park) and Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) have put forth a bill that proposes stopping the sale of new gas-powered leaf blowers and lawn mowers. The bill would also require all new sales of certain outdoor equipment to be zero-emission by at least 2024. The new legislation is tied to California's attempts to mitigate the impacts of climate change. "It’s time to phase out these super polluters," Assemblywoman Gonzalez said in a press release.
