Click here 41 counties in California are now in a drought emergency – The California governor is expanding the state's drought emergency to 39 more counties amid “acute water supply shortages” in northern and central areas. The new proclamation now includes counties on the Klamath River, Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and Tulare Lake watersheds. 41 counties out of a total of the state's 58 are under the state of emergency, representing 30% of California's population, or nearly 40 million people. The small and rural communities scattered throughout Sacramento, San Joaquin, and Placer counties will be hit hardest by drought. An update from the US Drought Monitor, puts 73% of the state in Extreme Drought, the second most severe classification the US Drought Monitor utilizes. Megan Rohrer will be the new bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s (ELCA) Sierra Pacific synod, becoming the first transgender person to serve as bishop in the denomination, or in any of the U.S.’ major Christian faiths. "As a trans person, it is something that I know is bigger than just one person. It's something that's historic and I feel blessed to get to be a part of it," Rohrer said.
