Click here Volunteers partner with law enforcement to keep the AAPI community safe in Sacramento – Marlon Lara arrived at Stockton Boulevard Partnership for his first day as a volunteer for the “Safety on Stockton Blvd” program. It's a program that aims to help keep people in the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community safe while out doing daily activities. "We got a whistle just in case we see anything," Lara said. "We want to make sure we aren’t just seen but heard and we got a little 'to do' list of how we should approach any situation we may see out there." Volunteers will be spread throughout Stockton Blvd at the four major Asian supermarkets, Vinh Phat, New Asia, Wing Wa and A&A, with law enforcement also at the ready. Gov. Gavin Newsom and legislative leaders said that they intend to add the money to this fiscal year's budget before considering even more in the new spending plan that takes effect July 1. Advocates say the spending will more than double $200 million in recent annual spending. (Don Thompson, Associated Press) How California's sharp drop in J&J vaccine supply impacts county supply – The projected supply of Johnson & Johnson vaccines is on a sharp decline for the next couple of weeks in California, but to health officials, the news is no reason to sound the alarm, at least for right now. Current projections have the supply of Johnson and Johnson vaccines in a bit of a freefall. The state's allocation dropped sharply from a little less than 575,000 on the week of April 4 to a projected 67,600 vaccines on the week of April 11. The projection continues the trend into the week of April 18 with a projected 22,400 vaccines. “If the shortage were to continue for weeks on end, then I would be really worried about that team that’s going out to the farms and doing (J&J) vaccinations of our migrant workers, but I’m expecting that the supply will come up again. So, we’re OK,” said Dr. Maggie Park, public health officer for San Joaquin County. (Eric Escalante, ABC10) Congratulations to Delois Black from Tracy, California.
